Star Wars Galaxies News – Twelve Servers to Close in October

January 11th, 2010

Due to the Free Character Transfer Service, a number of servers have essentially become ghost towns as much of the game’s remaining population has chosen to converge on a small number of servers (example: Starsider).

As a result of this, Star Wars Galaxies Community Manager, Draakull, has announced today that 12 servers and SWG Credits will be shutdown on October 15th, 2009, at 5PM PDT, leaving 13 remaining. The creation of new characters on these servers is now disabled.

The servers listed below will be shut down:

Corbantis

Europe-Infinity

Intrepid

Kauri

Kettemoor

Lowca

Naritus

Scylla

Tarquinas

Tempest

Valcyn

Wanderhome

To help facilitate any players still remaining on these servers, the Free Character Transfer Service has been extended through to October 15th, 2009. Beginning today, all characters still remaining on the aforementioned servers are eligible for a one time free transfer to any of the remaining 13 servers.

In addition to this announcement, a FAQ has also been made available for more information on the situation.

The announcement and FAQ are both available here.

Aion News – NCsoft Responds to Player Shop AFKers

January 8th, 2010

Find yourself sitting in a seven hour queue recently? You can thank your fellow community members for that. Many players have been abusing the player shop system in Aion, which lets players set up shop anywhere in the world and hawk their wares, in order to avoid queue times.

Gotta break for dinner? Don’t want to come back and deal with a queue? Set up shop! Up until today, being in shop mode protected you from the idle out timer. This practice has compounded the issue of already crowded servers by causing queue times to shoot up as more and more people catch on and set up shop to avoid idling out.

Well this morning Aion went down for maintenance, and returned with a newly implemented 30 minute limit on player shops. Now, if only they added some more severs!

Chapter II: The Elven Prophecy is now on live servers! Those of you who have been having withdrawals due to the lack of Elves in the game will be pleased to know you can finally make one and explore the new lands of Taborea.

The new chapter brings more than just Elves to the game, introducing two new classes, the Druid and the Warden as well as new dungeons, namely the 12-man “Hall of Survivors” raid, two six man dungeons, “The Origin”, and “The Heart of the Ocean”, and a 150 man public encounter called “Varanas Nightmare”. Additionally, four new zones, including a new newbie zone, and three high level zones are available for players to explore.

The expansion is of course free, but there is a boxed version available in stores for 9.95 MSRP.

In addition, players who activate their keys within the first five days of release will receive the exclusive “Heavenly Black Wings” item.

Wonderland Online News – Nessie the Loch Ness Monster

January 8th, 2010

For those who venture into the whimsy of Wonderland Online, they’ll find almost anything can appear in the virtual world of Wonderland – even the legendarily reclusive Loch Ness Monster! No one knows much about this monster, except from the videos and pictures depicting a large dark shadow moving along the surface of Loch Ness. Inspired by this mysterious legend, the Wonderland Online dev team has a new boss based on this legend, Nessie – the Loch Ness Monster! In the game, Nessie isn’t as fond of the cold waters of the foggy loch as previously thought, and instead prefers the warm, sunny Mediterranean.

The adventure to find Nessie starts on the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Sea. There, players will come across a mysterious coral rock. Touch it and suddenly a long slender seaweed green neck rises from the flat calm water. Blazing red eyes will stare hungrily, just before a huge mouth swoops down and swallows everyone up.

When characters regain their senses, they’ll be in complete darkness. Slowly it may dawn on them they have fallen into the belly of the beast! The cavernous interior is littered with the hulks of broken ships and the occasional sailors bones. It’s not safe here, so watch out for attacks, but if they can survive, they’ll find two other survivors to aid in the escape. One is the lonely Puppet Master in the small intestine, the other is Robinson in the large intestine. Where players go from here depends on what they decide to do, it’s up to them.

Good couple

January 8th, 2010

SL Linden plays an important part in the game, and we need make full use of it. Wherever you live or stay, we all need happy life. We have enough time to enjoy, and we can have a good journey. But in life if we are alone, we will often feel sad. No one can live lonely, what happens in the life, and no one can help you. But in the game we can buy lindens to gether energy and buy arms, and if we have time, we can live in a life like in the game, and our hearts will be full.

In the game NPC plays an important role in the changes through the development of the game elements and game system features a combination of lead player with the player. The player to interact with system. We can get help from our team, and than they make us far away from bad sitation. So no one can alone, and we need give a hand when somebody was in trouble.

NPC is not only a game guide, and even more is your partner live together. It makes us have a good team, and we can learn new knowledge. At the same time, if have enough second life linden  to play, we will improve our energy and skills. And aslo, we can use it to buy arms for fighting. Life is made up of wonderful envents. You know, work and fighting are parts of life, and we need value it. Players can team up with the NPC involved in the fighting. Fighting side by side with you.

People in our hometown often say that comity is very important, and we could not live without it. In life just so, and we work hard in team too.

Bounty Bay Online News – France Gets Free Colony Add-on

January 7th, 2010

The French version of the free colony add-on for Bounty Bay Online is to be released in France on 30th June 2009. The comprehensive expansion which has been available in Germany and England since January enables the historical seafarer world’s guilds to found their own whole colonies complete with towns and harbours. For this purpose the historical world of exploration has a total of 33 coastal territories standing ready for development. Along with the outside appearance of the colony, players can define the trading policies within their sphere of influence and also their colony’s future development. Upcoming guilds can in this way create a profitable trading centre and individual retreat.

Luna Online News – Preview

January 7th, 2010

We’re sure you’re noticing a trend in the free to play genre these days and it’s not a particularly exciting one. A phenomenon wherein company produces a ridiculous number of MMO franchises in the hopes that you will eventually take note of one and hopefully invest. On one hand, I applaud this foray into the wild world of MMO capitalism since it exposes the massive multi player genre to the public at large and likewise creates competition for the more dedicated gamers. Competition theoretically means that said company will work harder for your dollar and will hopefully produce a better product in the processes. On the other hand, this projectile vomiting of titles also tends to endear the ‘if it works, why fix it?’ mentality, which has in turn has given rise to the MMO clone wars. These companies will invariably attempt to produce a cutesy MMO with an Asian-anime feel, a serious MMO probably featuring an ancient Chinese theme, some flavor of sports MMO and a fluffy socialization MMO if that wasn’t already included in the cutesy-anime one. One need look any further than Konami as one of the more egregious offenders, and gpotato is rapidly joining the ranks with their newest effort: Luna Online.
